Learn more about one of Jagathon's new roles, Vice President of Governance!
As Vice President of Governance, my main objective is to implement research and guide diversity, equity, and inclusive initiatives for recruitment, fundraising, and main event accessibility. To achieve this goal, I am working on creating inclusive main event initiatives such as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, accessible morale dance for individuals who use a wheelchair, prayer room, private hair cutting ceremony, pronoun pin on main event lanyards, Spanish and Arabic translations for recruitment and fundraising resources, and so much more! This semester, the Jagathon Executive Board completed an Engaging Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshop with the Division of DEI Multicultural Center’s Peer Educators. Student leaders explored how our multiple cultural and social identities, values, and beliefs influence our sense of self and how we relate to one another, creating a more inclusive atmosphere.
Lastly, I want to share a little about myself! I am from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and am currently a sophomore majoring in Epidemiology/Public Health on the Pre-Medicine track with a certificate in Health Services Management. I’m incredibly eager to take on my role as Vice President of Governance for Jagathon 2024 as I celebrate my 6th year involved with Riley Dance Marathon. I look forward to seeing how we can make our organization more inclusive and create a greater sense of belonging!
